"What Child Is This?" is a popular Christmas carol that was written in 1865 by twenty-nine year old writer William Chatterton Dix. William Dix was struck with a sudden near-fatal illness and confined to bedrest for several months, during which time he went into a deep depression. Yet out of his near-death experience, Dix wrote many hymns, including "What Child is This?". It was later set to the traditional English melody of "Greensleeves". This Christmas Hymn Was Sung at Klondike Baptist Church of Pensacola, Florida 12/21/08. www.geocities.com/churchklondike "A Bible Teaching Church" John 1:12-13: But as many as received Him [Jesus Christ], to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. www.needgod.com
