Youtube and their new copyright crackdown.

### The Purpose #### I made this simple video with nothing but text as I want youtube and all parties who it may concern to get this message as clear as possible Myself and other youtube members are very unhappy with this sudden crackdown on "copyright" which has affected a vast majority of videos. The affect ranges from audio been muted (even in SOME "music" videos) all the way up to videos been removed completely! Now I'm not sure exactly how much of it is actual artists/record companies and how much of this is youtube but the message is clear... Youtube is a great way to advertise your music/videos. By simply editing/removing our videos we spend time you won't all of a sudden cure piracy, and infact in the long run you may even lose fans and revenue! #### The Solution #### So to youtube, I ask that either you change your site design to something that isn't as easy to rip music from as flash, or at least allow some exceptions when its pretty obvious the idea of the video isn't to steal a song and let people listen to it and to the record producers/artists I ask that you treat youtube as a way of marketing your music and realise how unhappy your "fans" (at least those who use youtube) who pay for your luxurious lifestyle are with how we are been treated. I know times maybe financially hard but do you really think removing any chance of people been able to hear your music will increase your sales? If people can't hear your newest hits then how are they going to know to buy them? Do you really think the people who want your song bad enough and don't wish to support your music can't get hold of it? The only people this new crackdown is hurting is yourselves as people will be pushed away from youtube to other popular media sites, and pushed to other bands who allow people to at the very least listen to their songs so they know what they are like #### What can we do? #### My simple idea is to simply add this vieo to your favorites, I'd dont care about ratings or views I just want youtube to realise how many people are unhappy with their new strictness regarding "copyright" and hope they do something or at least compromise before its too late #### Final words #### (I know google owns youtube) Remember that yahoo/msn used to be the main search engines until google came along.. Changes happen and it wouldn't suprise me if people took advantage of this and tried launching their own media uploading sites until youtube became almost obsolete Thank you for taking the time to read this long wall of text, and I just hope together we can do something about this problem, Please tell your friends about this also if they feel the same way as the more people we can get together the better our chances are.

BOB WILLS-BEAUMONT RAG

Bob Wills' name will forever be associated with Western swing. Although he did not invent the genre single-handedly, he did popularize the genre and changed its rules. In the process, he reinvented the rules of popular music. Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys were a dance band with a country string section that played pop songs as if they were jazz numbers. Their music expanded and erased boundaries between genres. It was also some of the most popular music of its era. Throughout the '40s, the band was one of the most popular groups in the country and the musicians in the Playboys were among the finest of their era. As the popularity of Western swing declined, so did Wills' popularity, but his influence is immeasurable. From the first honky tonkers to Western swing revivalists, generations of country artists owe him a significant debt, as do certain rock and jazz musicians. Wills was a maverick and his spirit infused American popular music of the 20th century with a renegade, virtuosic flair.

Music His musical accomplishments include the first Grammy Award ever awarded for a country song, for his 1959 hit and signature song "El Paso", taken from his album Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs. "El Paso" was the first song to hit #1 on the pop chart in the 1960s. It was followed up, successfully, by "Don't Worry", which reached #3 on the pop chart in 1961, becoming his third, and last, Top 10 hit. He won the Grammy Award for the Best Country & Western Recording 1961, for his follow-up album More Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs, and was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1970, for "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife." Robbins was named "Artist of the Decade" (1960-69) by the Academy of Country Music, was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1982, and was given a Grammy Hall of Fame Award in 1998 for his song "El Paso". Robbins was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1975. For his contribution to the recording industry, Robbins has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6666 Hollywood Blvd. Robbins has been honored by many bands, including the Grateful Dead who covered "El Paso". The Who's 2006 album Endless Wire includes the song "God Speaks of Marty Robbins." The song's composer, Pete Townshend, explains that the song is about God's deciding to create the universe just so he can hear some music, "and most of all, one of his best creations, Marty Robbins."[2] The Beasts of Bourbon released a song called "The Day Marty Robbins Died" on their 1984 Debut LP The Axeman's Jazz. Robbins performed and recorded several songs written by longtime songwriter Coleman Harwell, most notably "Thanks but No Thanks" in 1964; Robbins and his producers employed the top sessions musicians and singers including the Jordanaires to record Harwell's songs. When Marty Robbins was recording his 1961 hit "Don't Worry", session guitarist Grady Martin accidentally created a fuzz effect[3] during the session. This came about because of a faulty channel in the console where Martin's guitar was plugged in. The effect was left in the recording and this is rumored to be the birth of the fuzz guitar. SONNY JAMES-SINCE I MET YOU BABY

Sonny James, the Southern Gentleman, used the popular Nashville sound of the '60s to countrify pop hits of the past into a form accessible to many, broadening country music's appeal across the nation. James even moved over to the pop charts for a time in the late '50s but found the secret of his success by the time he returned to country. During the late '60s, he scored an incredible five-year run of number one singles which locked up the top spot for a combined 45 weeks during the late '60s. Born James Loden on May 1, 1929, he began performing with his show-business family at the age of three and played with his four sisters as the Loden Family while in his teens. The group appeared around the South and on radio shows like the Louisiana Hayride and Saturday Night Shindig. After spending time overseas during the Korean War, Loden took Sonny James as his stage name -- after his teenage nickname. He met and played with Chet Atkins, who later got him a tryout with Capitol Records. The label liked what it heard and offered James a contract. His first single, "That's Me Without You," hit the country Top Ten in early 1953, but it was three years before "For Rent (One Empty Heart)" became his second big hit. James, who played guitar on virtually all of his records, followed up with two 1956 Top Ten near-misses "Twenty Feet of Muddy Water" and "The Cat Came Back." His next single became his biggest hit: "Young Love" spent nine weeks at number one during 1956-1957 and crossed over to top the pop charts also. Beginning in 1957, James began to focus his attention on the popular charts. "First Date, First Kiss, First Love" made the Top 25, but no follow-up placed as high. Several of his failures had still managed to go Top Ten on the country charts, so James returned to country with a vengeance in 1964. "You're the Only World I Know" hit number one country late that year and spent four weeks atop the chart. That began one of the greatest tears country music has ever known: 21 of his next 25 singles hit number one (and the other four near-misses hit either two or three). James completely dominated the chart from 1964 to 1972, though only several singles crossed over for modest placements on the popular charts. That fact is somewhat surprising, since three-quarters of James' number ones had previously been pop hits, including "Take Good Care of Her" for Adam Wade, "I'll Never Find Another You" and "A World of Our Own" for the Seekers, "Born to Be With You" for the Chordettes, and Roy Orbison's "Only the Lonely." Backed by his Southern Gentlemen band, James toured the country and overseas, appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show, Hee Haw, and The Bob Hope Show, and made several movies, including Las Vegas Hillbillies (1966), Second Fiddle to a Steel Guitar (1967), and Nashville Rebel (1967). Billboard named him the Number One Artist of 1969. Even after James' number one streak ended in January 1972, he continued to place high on the charts. The number two "Only Love Can Break a Heart" (a pop hit for Gene Pitney ten years earlier) was followed by the number ones "That's Why I Love You Like I Do" and -- after moving to Columbia in mid-1972 -- "When the Snow Is on the Roses." James' next chart-topping single, "Is It Wrong (For Loving You)," was released in March 1974, and it began his last major run. He followed with four consecutive Top Ten hits, "A Mi Esposa con Amor (To My Wife With Love)," "A Little Bit South of Saskatoon," "Little Band of Gold," and "What in the World's Come Over You." By the early '70s, James had moved into producing and music publishing also; he oversaw three of Marie Osmond's albums and still managed occasional Top 10 singles, himself. He picked up the prestigious award of Country Music's Male Artist of the Decade from Record World in 1977 and moved to the Monument label in 1979, then to Dimension two years later. "Word Up!" is a funk/hip hop song originally written and recorded by Cameo. Due to its heavy play on American pop and R&B radio, as well as music video play on MTV, the single became the band's most well-known hit. From the album of the same name, "Word Up!" was Cameo's first top-forty U.S. hit, peaking at number six on the Billboard Hot 100. 3rd Force - Vital Force - 07 - Set Yourself Free (1997)

3rd Force is a smooth jazz band on the EMI Higher Octave label,consisting of trio William Aura, Craig Dobbin, and Alain Eskinasi. This 1997 opus is a marvelous blend of New Age, Jazz, pop, and some world color to it. Smooth Jazz has a tendency to fall into the generic formula of generic `elevator music' production and relatively bland unmemorable music. Don't misunderstand me, smooth jazz is nice to listen to but I like more but 3rd Forces "Vital Force" though is a shining standout and still holds up so well after all these years in the field of Smooth Jazz.

The Moonglows - Over And Over Again

The Moonglows were among the most important R&B groups of the 1950s, despite the fact that they only had a handful of hits among fewer than 50 recorded songs, in a history that lasted just six years, in sharp contrast to such acts as the Orioles and the Drifters, who were together across decades and recorded huge bodies of work. Chicago-born Harvey Fuqua (born July 27, 1928) grew up in Louisville, KY, where he learned the piano and also began singing with his high school classmate Bobby Lester (born January 13, 1930; died October 15, 1980) at dances. They formed a professional duo in Louisville during 1949, after both finished brief periods of serving in the military, and were soon working with saxman and bandleader Ed Wiley, and it was in his group that they started singing jump and blues. Eventually a lack of earnings led them to split up, with Fuqua moving to Cleveland, where he crossed paths with an army buddy, Danny Coggins, and a neighbor of his, Prentiss Barnes (born April 25, 1925), who'd previously been a gospel singer, and formed a trio. Fuqua brought Lester into the group, which was known as the Crazy Sounds, and they started to get work in the area around Cleveland. They were an improvisational singing group that specialized in a technique called vocalese, using their voices to replace instruments, basically in a jazz context, somewhat similar to the work of the Swingle Singers and the Manhattan Transfer. Their first break came in 1952 when they came to the attention of local disc jockey Alan Freed, who was already making a name for himself playing R&B records. They auditioned and did well enough to earn a chance to record on Freed's own Champagne Records label, changing their name to the Moonglows in the process in an effort to hook their recognition to Freed's on-air persona as "Moondog." The group enjoyed a modest local hit with a Lester composition, "I Just Can't Tell No Lie." They began performing in venues throughout the industrial Midwest and underwent their first membership change when Coggins quit for a more stable life as a gas station owner. He was replaced by Alex Walton and Alexander Graves. Lester and Fuqua shared the lead vocal spot, sometimes even on the same song, and both of them had a keen interest in songwriting as well. The group was special not only for their mix of subtle polish and visceral excitement, but also the sheer attractiveness of the singing and the way in which their arrangements locked it all together -- Lester and Fuqua were the leads and the most visible talents, but there were no weak links anywhere in the Moonglows' sound; from bass to the occasional falsetto, all of the singing was dazzling, animated, and bracing, whether on the jump numbers or the ballads; each of their finished records was the total package, distinctly voiced, gorgeously textured, and exciting. In the early fall of 1953, Freed landed the group a contract with Chance Records, a small Chicago outfit that was making a serious noise in blues and R&B, and already had the Flamingoes and the Spaniels under contract. For a year, they tried to chart with ballads -- including a killer version of "Secret Love" with Lester singing lead -- and jump numbers but saw little success at Chance, before they were dropped. In October of 1954, the group moved to Chess Records, and their first session was one of the most productive in the history of the label, yielding 13 songs including one of the biggest hits in Chess' history, "Sincerely" -- authored by Fuqua (with Freed taking half the royalties as "co-author," a common arrangement at the time for Freed and other managers), the Moonglows' recording charted in December of that year and bumped "Earth Angel" by the Penguins out of the number one R&B spot the following month, and later climbed to number 20 on the Hot 100 pop chart. The single rode the R&B listings for 20 weeks and sold over a quarter of a million copies, an extraordinary number for Chess in those days and all of it happening before R&B had fully crossed over to white listeners. The group's status in the hierarchy of rock & roll -- or, at least, that corner of it under the control of Freed -- was confirmed when the Moonglows were included in the jukebox movie Rock, Rock, Rock, working alongside Chuck Berry, the Flamingoes, LaVern Baker, the Johnny Burnette Trio, and Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers. Later that same year, they also began work on what was to have been their debut LP, and early in 1957 they made another screen appearance, in Mr. Rock and Roll, a second jukebox feature, sandwiched in between many of the same acts as the prior movie -- this was to mark the last screen appearance of the original group, however. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide

JIM REEVES-DING DONG

Jim Reeves was born in Galloway, Texas, a small rural community near Carthage. He became known as a crooner because of his warm, velvety voice. His songs were remarkable for their simple elegance highlighted by his rich light baritone voice. Songs such as "He'll Have to Go," "Adios Amigo (song)," "Welcome To My World," and "Am I Losing You" demonstrated this approach. Jim Reeves' Christmas songs have been perennial favorites, including songs such as "Silver Bells," "Blue Christmas," and "An Old Christmas Card". For many years, Reeves mixed college life with baseball and music. Influenced by such Western swing artists as Jimmie Rodgers and Moon Mullican as well as popular crooners Bing Crosby, Eddy Arnold and Frank Sinatra, it was not long before he got a foothold into the music industry. For a time, he was a member of Moon Mullican's band and also worked as a DJ and announcer with local radio stations. He made some early, Moon Mullican-style recordings like "Each Beat of my Heart" and "My Heart's Like a Welcome Mat" in the late 1940s/early 1950s. After an injury cut short his minor-league baseball career with the St. Louis Cardinals farm system, his musical break came while working as announcer on KWKH Radio in Shreveport, Louisiana. Singer Sleepy LaBeef could not make it on time for a performance on the Louisiana Hayride, according to former Hayride emcee Frank Page, and Reeves was asked to fill in. (Other accountsâ€"including Reeves himself, in an interview later released on the RCA album Yours Sincerelyâ€"name Hank Williams as the absentee.) Reeves' singing career was launched In 195960 Reeves scored his greatest hit with the Joe Allison composition "He'll Have to Go," which earned him a platinum record. He had a posthumous No.1 hit on the United Kingdom pop charts in 1966 with "Distant Drums," a song written for him by Cindy Walker. Jim Reeves was one of the few Western singers, including music acts such as Boney M and ABBA, who became widely known in the non-European world, including Africa, India and Southeast Asia. To this day he is affectionately referred to as "Gentleman Jim" in those parts.

FLOYD CRAMER-A SWINGING SAFARI

Floyd Cramer (October 27, 1933 December 31, 1997) was an American Hall of Fame pianist who was one of the architects of the "Nashville Sound." Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Cramer grew up in the small town of Huttig, Arkansas, teaching himself to play the piano. After finishing high school, he returned to Shreveport, where he worked as a pianist for the Louisiana Hayride radio show. After Cramer moved permanently to Nashville, Allen "Puddler" Harris, a native of Franklin Parish in northeastern Louisiana, replaced him as the pianist for the Hayride. Cramer moved to Nashville in 1955. The use of piano accompanists in country music was growing in popularity, and by the next year he was, in his words "in day and night doing sessions. [1] Before long, Cramer would become one of the busiest studio musicians in the industry, playing piano for stars such as Elvis Presley, Brenda Lee, Patsy Cline, The Browns, Jim Reeves, Eddy Arnold, Roy Orbison, Don Gibson, and the Everly Brothers, and many others. It's Cramer's piano, for instance, on Presley's first national hit, "Heartbreak Hotel." However, Cramer remained a virtual unknown to anyone but music industry insiders until he recorded a 45 rpm single in 1960 called "Last Date." This instrumental piece exhibited a relatively new concept for piano playing known as the "slip note" style. The record went to Number two on the Billboard Hot 100 pop music chart. This track is used as the closing theme for renowned Australian radio broadcaster Ray Hadley on his number one syndicated show in Sydney on radio station 2GB. Two more hits followed, 1961's "On the Rebound" (Number three) and "San Antonio Rose" (Number eight). By the mid-1960s, Cramer had become a respected performer, making numerous record albums and touring with guitar maestro Chet Atkins and saxophonist Boots Randolph; also performing with them as a member of the Million Dollar Band. . Floyd Cramer died of lung cancer in 1997 at the age of 64 and was interred in the Spring Hill Cemetery in the Nashville suburb of Madison, Tennessee. In 2003, he was inducted into both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee offers the "Floyd Cramer Competitive Scholarship."
